How to get a perfect flooring installation

Flooring will be one of the biggest investments you'll ever make in your home, so you want it to be done correctly, right from the start. A poor installation not only affects appearance but longevity. You can find yourself constantly calling for service to correct mistakes.

We’re proud of our 5-star rating on Google because at Austin Floor Pros we're all about service, quality, and affordability.

We have a fully stocked showroom including every type of flooring, from hardwood to carpet and more. We treat every installation, whether it’s residential or commercial as if it’s in our own home. We provide a single provider throughout the flooring installation project. You won't be dealing with multiple people to address subfloor issues, tile patterns or completion of the project.

Visit our showroom in Austin, TX and speak to one of our experts. We also serve Lakeway, Leander, Cedar Park, and Round Rock.

Be sure to ask about our quotes.

Installation is as important as the product itself

Some even go so far as to say it’s more important than the product. Here are just some things that can go wrong.

First, know the difference between floating and non-floating floors. Floating floors are held in place by weight and friction, and they usually click together and are DIY-friendly. An example would be luxury vinyl.

If not careful, chipping, denting and contamination with mold and mildew can happen.

Non-floating floors are carpet, hardwood and ceramic tile and they require special tools, skills and often subfloor preparation.
  • If not stretched and measured properly, carpet can wrinkle, become loose or jut out from the wall.
  • Hardwood can cup, crown or gap.
  • Tile is heavy and difficult and requires a special saw to cut it, and there’s no going back if there’s a mistake in creating the pattern.

Expertise is key

The professionals have been doing it a long time, so they have the kind of knowledge needed to foresee possible problems, avoid them, and handle them if they happen anyway.

Even if you choose to DIY the project, consult with a professional if you have concerns.

Don’t dismiss the importance of product

A good installation starts before you walk into the store because the flooring needs to be in line with your style, goals, challenges, budget, and lifestyle. One of the biggest mistakes is buying the flooring for your needs.
